The Eliza Thompson House, a regally restored architectural landmark, is one of the oldest bed and breakfast inns in Savannah. Located on historic Jones Street, one of Savannahs most charming downtown residential addresses, the Inn is within walking distance to shops, antique stores, museum houses, Civil War memorials, beautiful old churches and Savannahs restaurants. br brBuilt for Eliza Thompson in 1847, the landmark recalls a prosperous time in Savannah where elegant parties in fine homes were popular. The main house consists of twelve stately guest rooms. The courtyard addition contains another thirteen. br brThe rooms at the Eliza Thompson House are reflective of the original decor. Each is tastefully and uniquely furnished with period furniture as well as modern amenities and a private bath. br brMornings at the Eliza Thompson House feature a Southern-made breakfast with casserole dishes, freshly baked breads, bacon, eggs, sausage, fruit, juices and coffee-- all served in the courtyard, right outside the Carriage Houses guestroom doors. br brEach evening between 5:30-7pm the parlor becomes a place to meet fellow guests and the innkeeper. Homemade hors doeuvres, wine, coffee, tea and soft drinks are served during this reception. br brDesserts and coffee are served from 8:30-10pm. Southern desserts are featured, using select recipes from some of Savannahs most famous restaurants. br brEvenings feature turn-down service, freshly pressed sheets, and luxuriously soft robes.
